The Kuyum Tanzplattform is a festival for contemporary African dance in Berlin. Founded in 2021 by Felix Dompreh - a dancer, choreographer, and curator from Ghana - the festival offers an international program of neo-African choreography, contemporary dance, and intercultural exchange.
The focus is on an innovative exploration of the body, emotion, and movement in African dance. Kuyum challenges stereotypical notions, creates space for creative networking, new collaborations, and the further development of African dance forms in the diaspora. The festival also invites the audience to participate in encounters and discussions. Organized by Kuyum Arts gUG in cooperation with Uferstudios Berlin, the week-long festival takes place annually in September.
Die Kuyum Tanzplattform ist ein Festival für zeitgenössischen afrikanischen Tanz in Berlin. Seit der Gründung im Jahr 2021 durch Felix Dompreh – Tänzer, Choreograf und Kurator aus Ghana – bietet das Festival ein internationales Programm für neo-afrikanische Choreografien, zeitgenössischen Tanz und interkulturellen Austausch.
Im Zentrum steht dabei eine innovative Auseinandersetzung mit Körper, Gefühl und Bewegung im afrikanischen Tanz. Kuyum hinterfragt stereotype Vorstellungen, schafft Raum für kreative Vernetzung, neue Kooperationen und die Weiterentwicklung afrikanischer Tanzformen in der Diaspora. Zudem lädt die Tanzplattform das Publikum zu Begegnungs- und Diskussionsformaten ein. Veranstaltet von Kuyum Arts gUG in Kooperation mit den Uferstudios Berlin findet das einwöchige Festival jährlich im September statt.
